81% of Dubois County Opposes the Mid-States Corridor

We commissioned a poll of 636 registered Dubois County voters. The results: 81% oppose the Mid-States Corridor, 72% strongly. 77% say they'd be less likely to re-elect officials who support it.
On December 22, 2025, we stood on the steps of the Dubois County Courthouse and released the results of a professional poll that changed the conversation about the Mid-States Corridor.
The poll was conducted December 16-17 by Public Policy Polling, surveying 636 registered Dubois County voters with a margin of error under 4 percent. The topline: 81% of voters oppose the Mid-States Corridor, with 72% strongly opposing. Only 14% support it.
But the numbers went deeper. 77% said they'd be less likely to re-elect an official who publicly supports the project — 67% said much less likely. 84% oppose using local tax dollars to maintain US-231 if responsibility shifts to local government. And 87% say local officials should clearly state where they stand.
You don't make big decisions on gut feelings. You make them on data. This project is big, permanent, and it deserves public scrutiny.
The poll was funded by donations from residents and members of the Property Rights Alliance and the Coalition Against the Mid-States Corridor. The opposition crosses party lines — strong among Republicans, Democrats, and Independents alike.
Phil Mundy, Jasper City Council President Pro Tempore, said he'd fielded hundreds — possibly thousands — of calls, texts, and conversations. He could count the supporters on one hand. The data confirmed what every kitchen table conversation in Dubois County has been saying.
